White Cane Week 2005

February 6-12, 2005

White Cane

For the past 57 years, the first week of February has traditionally been White Cane Week. For White Cane Week 2005, activities across the country are being held by members of CCB to help raise awareness for the blind and visually impaired.

The themes for this year's White Cane Week were:
"Changing what it means to be Blind" and "The White Cane is Independence, a symbol of Ability not Disability"

White Cane Week 2005 National Events
This year’s White Cane Week was a success. With 3 major National events, including the 1st National Blind Curling Bonspiel, CCB managed to raise awareness of blind and visually impaired Canadians, showing that the White Cane is a symbol of ability, not disability.
